AMOT Controls designs and supplies complete control rooms, usually of semi portable style and sent around the world from the UK – and we have just shipped our largest control cabin yet.

Of GRP insulated construction built on a steel chassis, it was divided into two rooms, one for staff and the other for control panels, and included power, lighting and air conditioning systems. Overall size was about 12m long x 3.5m wide x 3.5m high (39.4ft x 11.5ft x 11.5ft).

It was for one of eight sites at a major oil producer in Africa where AMOT is providing control systems for overall plant monitoring, dedicated generator controls and LV distribution boards. Each site had a data acquisition system that communicated via fibre optic links to an AMOT central SCADA system located at one of the sites.

The overall system was PLC based with architecture complying with IEC61508 Sil-3. AMOT won the business against stiff competition by offering a superior solution technically yet also providing significant project cost savings.

AMOT’s experience also includes similar cabins in steel and units complying with varying environmental conditions.
