The Hawk-I standard upgrade package is ideally suited to Zone 2/Div 2 Hazardous areas for engines, pumps, compressors and many other local processes in the Petrochemical industry.

The AMOT Hawk-I is a powerful programmable controller combining the power of a PLC, with the ease of an embedded control system, into one compact product, ideal for industrial and hazardous area applications.

Stand alone or integrated, local or remote, the cost effective Hawk-I eliminates integration problems, reduces engineering time and requires no advanced programming skills to set-up, use and modify. The Hawk-I's operational sequence can be fully configured by the user or AMOT factory through the utilisation of the HawkWin software, the AMOT Windows-based programming software, and by embedded functionality in flash memory.

The compact Hawk-I is easily expandable and field upgradeable for complete control applications. Plain text messages can be configured by the user, alarm and shutdown annunciation is automatic and the controller logs the last 128 events with a time and date stamp.

FLEXIBLE APPLICATION

The flexibility of both the hardware and software of the Hawk-I provides a cost effective solution in either single or multi module applications. The flexibility of the Hawk-I allows it to be used either as a product integrated into a system, or as a total stand alone control system. Typical applications include:

SIMPLE EXPANDABILITY

The Hawk-I's rugged, weatherproof NEMA 4/IP55 enclosure features an expandable platform, an easy to read 32 character backlit liquid crystal display and a tactile keypad. The base system consists of 16 discrete inputs, 4 relay outputs and 1 speed input. The base unit can be simply expanded to include any of the following; 16 thermocouple inputs, eight 4 to 20mA loop inputs, 2 PID loop outputs, additional 8 relay drivers and MODBUS RTU protocol communications for direct DCS, SCADA or similar interface.

HAZARDOUS AREA

The Hawk-I's unique design concept provides a standard unit that is cost effective for both industrial or Zone/Division 2 applications. Carrying both BASEEFA and American Certification, standardisation of the product for these two markets provides real cost savings for both integrators and operators. The Hawk-I also provides the opportunity for cost reductions in sensors. By following simple guidelines, industrial (digital) switches and thermocouples can be utilised as they are classified non-incendive. HAWKWIN SOFTWARE

This software has been developed as the answer to standard embedded controllers which are unable to have software changes made in the field. Typically, embedded controllers' functionality is ‘burned’ into an EPROM chip and when there is a need to alter this functionality the chip must be removed and sent back to the factory for software changes.

The HawkWin software eliminates the rigid limitations of EPROM based controllers. Virtually any functionality the user desires can quickly be programmed in the field using HawkWin, and downloaded into the Hawk-I via a notebook PC and standard 9 pin RS 232 computer connection.

The HawkWin software provides intuitive, non cryptic, point & click menu driven programming, making ladder logic programming accessible to the layman. Using this software it is easy for the user to construct powerful and complex functions in a fraction of the time that it takes to program a typical PLC.
